Crowne Plaza Wiesbaden
Located at the heart of the Rhine-Main business region, Wiesbaden is the capital city of Hessen. This ancient spa town became a popular health resort in the beginning of the nineteenth century, when the restorative benefits of the warm springs became fashionable with the social elite. The original Spa Quarter, designed by Christian Zais, was constructed in 1810 along with the theatre colonnades and its elegant gardens and villas. The Kurhaus is now one of Europe's leading venues for events and exhibitions. The Kurhaus Colonnade is 129 metres in length and houses a casino. The entrance to the Hessian State Theatre is also in this area.
The Rhine-Main Convention Centre, with its state-of-the-art technology, is the city's other important convention hall. Convenient transport links have furthered Wiesbaden's development as a conference city and its focus on private business and the service sector. The River Rhine and the Taunus Hills lend a stunning backdrop to this picturesque city. Wiesbaden's charm lies in the beauty of its historical architecture in the old town, which features the Schloß (castle), built by the dukes of Nassau in the classical style. It is the current seat of the Hessen Provincial Parliament. The town centre also boasts an abundance of antique shops, cafes, bistros, boutiques and taverns.
